I am a warm, congruent and positive person with a breadth of experience. Having worked with families, young people, and in the field of mental health for many years, I became aware that I work best in an in-depth way, where the focus is on the relationship, and this drew me to the counselling field.
My own experience of Therapy, following a period of crisis, convinced me that the therapeutic relationship can provide a powerful foundation for understanding, change and growth.
Starting with the problems and issues you may bring to therapy, my style is supportive, creative and flexible. I offer Humanistic ‘Gestalt’-oriented Counselling and am a fully-accredited Psychotherapist, having completed five years of training the Metanoia Institute.
I see my task as Therapist as one in which we work collaboratively to develop a new level of awareness and understanding of how experiences - past and present- are impacting you now, and explore how you can achieve your goals.

The counselling I had with Denise helped me so much. I found her warm and understanding and I felt at ease with her from the very start. When I first came I was desperately lonely and sad – but over the weeks, after our talks, I felt so much stronger. Although I know it is still a very long journey with Denise’s help I feel I have started on that process
"Denise was my Counsellor for ten months during the period August 2014 until June 2015. I was experiencing severe depression and lifestyle difficulties following the death of a close family member in 2012. I found Denise to be a friendly, approachable person. She provided me with sound emotional support, giving me the confidence to deal with my loss and move forward with my life."
