A former TV Producer, I retrained as a Therapist after protracted illness forced me to consider my way of life and ‘what matters.’
My own experiences of Therapy, both as client and practitioner, have been immensely rewarding. As a result, I believe a quality counselling relationship can be properly transformative.
I’m a warm, empathic person and intuitive listener with a good sense of humour. As an ‘Existentialist’ my approach is concerned with the essentials of Being Human. Who am I, really? What’s important to me? How can I become the person I want to be? Why do I feel like this? What is getting in my way?
I’m interested in the ways people behave in relationships of all kinds and like to explore the stories we tell ourselves about who we are. Unhelpful 'narratives' can sometimes prevent us from feeling fully functional and authentic, or block us from reaching our potential.
In short my approach examines the assumptions, principles and beliefs we take through life. Are these useful or genuinely right for us, now? Does the way we actually live chime with our personal values? And, if not, how might we work towards more flexible thinking and change?
I work with individuals, couples and small groups and hope you will find my egalitarian approach accessible, non-judgemental and supportive.
Having qualified as a Humanistic Therapist from Brighton University’s BACP-accredited Post-Graduate Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (with Distinction), I look forward to undertaking further training and research work alongside client practice.
